COURSE DESCRIPTION

Video Communication Fundamentals (VCF) is a course that provides technical foundation information for those pursing a career in the visual communication industry.

The focus of the course is video networks, audio/video protocols and signaling, and ITU standards. In addition to providing a solid foundation in of audio and video communication and signaling, this course will prepare a student for Polycom’s CVE test, whose course content is a subset of this class. This course covers more current topics not covered in Polycom’s CVE course, such as some firewall traversal methods and other IP network topics that apply to video communication.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

The objective of VCF is to educate technical students who intend to pursue a career in the visual communications industry how visual communication protocols and signaling occur. This information provides the foundation information needed for installers and support personnel to design solutions and troubleshoot issues. At the end of this course, students will understand audio and video signaling, network protocols for video communication, and the ITU standards that apply to video communication.
